Breakfast porridge

Cardamom & dates porridge

Serves 1
Preparation 15 mins

INGREDIENTS

  • Rolled oats: 30g

  • Banana: 1

  • Whole milk / Oat milk: 170 ml

  • Water: 180 ml

  • Medjool dates: 3

  • Pistachios: 1 tsp

  • Ground cardamom: 1 tsp

METHOD

Remove the stones from the dates and chop them thinly.

Slice two-third of a banana and set aside. Place chopped dates, sliced banana, and ground cardamom in a small pan and pour 180ml of boiling water. Cook over low heat until getting a thick and almost smooth texture for about 10 minutes.

While the banana-date mix is cooking, soak the oat for a few minutes in the milk of your choice.

When the banana-date puree is ready, add the milk and oats to the pan, bring to a gentle simmer and cook for about 10-15 mins, stirring regularly until the oats are tender.

Serve the porridge in a bowl with some sliced banana, chopped dates and a few pistachios.

TIPS

To change flavours, you can use cinnamon instead of cardamom.
